Crafted from naturally fallen oak sourced in the picturesque Ribble Valley,.
Turned with thin walls while retaining weight in the base, the vessel was allowed to dry and naturally distort, adding character to its shape.
Once stabilized, it underwent the traditional Yakisugi process, enhancing the surface with a rich, dark finish. A stiff brush was then employed to burnish the grain, transforming it into a tactile piece. Subtle stitching on the front of the piece (a Japanese method of enhancing the fissure known as kintsugi) finishes of the piece.
The vessel is completed with a subtle wax finish, imparting a soft sheen that highlights its unique textures and form.
