Oak Yakisugi Bowl

Crafted from naturally fallen oak sourced in the picturesque Ribble Valley,.
Turned with thin walls while retaining some weight in the pedastal  base, the bowl was allowed to dry and naturally distort, adding character to its shape.
Once stabilized, it underwent the traditional Yakisugi process, enhancing the surface with a rich, dark finish. A stiff brush was then employed to burnish the grain, transforming it into a tactile piece.
The bowl is completed with waxed cotton stitching and a subtle wax finish, imparting a soft sheen that highlights its unique textures and form.
